Spanish CSP plants increase output by 8% y/y in Jan-May 2019

June 11 (Renewables Now) - Concentrated solar power (CSP) systems in Spain generated 2,026 GWh in the first five months of 2019, up by 8% year-on-year, Spanish CSP industry association Protermosolar informed on Tuesday.
For seven consecutive days in May, CSP produced electricity for 24 hours, the association said citing data by Spanish grid operator Red Electrica de Espana. In addition, the CSP plants broke their own monthly records in February, March and May by generating 262 GWh, 478 GWh and 741 GWh, respectively.
The generation records were achieved with the same installed capacity that was present in 2013, Protermosolar highlighted.
Spain has 50 CSP plants with the combined capacity of 2,300 MW in operation.
