As surveyed by CSP Focus, MENA region has been always among the top potential markets in global solar CSP market. An increasing number of new CSP power plants, ISCC plants, EOR projects are under construction or planning. Opportunities are surly generated for global CSP players.

Morocco owns the world largest solar CSP complex, the 510MW Noor Ouarzazate CSP plant. It includes160 MW Noor 1 CSP parabolic trough plant, which was completed in February 2016, and 200MW Noor 2 CSP parabolic trough plant and 150MW Noor 3 CSP tower plant, which are currently under development and will be operational by 2018. As the owner and developer of Noor CSP complex, ACWA Power will share during CSP Focus MENA 2017 Sept.13-14 Dubai conference about its MENA CSP involvement and ideas on local content, financing.

ACWA Power also joined the bidding of Dubai DEWA 200MW CSP tower project and offered the lowest price of USD 9.45 cents/kWh, creating a record-low price among global CSP plants. As a leading Spanish CSP developer/EPC, Abengoa Solar was also among the bidding consortiums, and its VP Mr. Michael Geyer will talk more during CSP Focus MENA 2017 Sept.13-14 Dubai event on the project and also share experience on developing Shams1, the 1st operational commercial CSP project in MENA.

For Kuwait, Shagaya 50MW CSP project is the 1st commercial CSP plant, which is now under construction and expected to be completed by 2018. Developed by Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), the project signed EPC contract (USD $385 million) with a consortium consisting of Spanish EPC company TSK and Kuwait's Kharafi National in 2015. During CSP Focus MENA event, TSK representative, together with the project engineer Empresarios Agrupados, will share more on Shagaya project.

Saudi Arabia is planning its first ISCC project combined with CSP---Duba 1 ISCC power station. The parabolic trough will generate 50 MW of the plant's total 605 MW of capacity. Duba 1 will be the largest integrated CSP capacity in the Arabian Gulf region once it’s completed by 2018. Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), as the owner of Duba 1 and Waad Al Shamal ISCC plants, will share its idea on such projects during CSP Focus MENA 2017 Sept.13-14 Dubai event.
