Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) awarded Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power and China’s Shanghai Electric consortium the contract (Dirham 14.2billion) of the 700 MW CSP project earlier this September. The bidding price of USD $7.3 cent/kWh created a new-low for global CSP industry. The join of Shanghai Electric endows the world biggest CSP project with more Chinese elements. 

As an affiliated research institute of Shanghai Electric, Shanghai Electric Central Research Institute (hereinafter, the Institute) focuses on the generic, key and prospective technologies of CSP industry to overcome technological difficulties and lower the cost. The research findings such as high-temperature two-tank molten salt thermal energy storage system contribute a lot to the expansion of Shanghai Electric in CSP industry.

On Nov. 13 Morning, CSP Focus China Tour 2017 delegation initiated by CSP Focus visited the Institute earlier this month. New Material Application Laboratory Director Liao Wenjun, Duan Yang and Zhou Can expressed their warm welcome and join the meeting.

During the discussion, they started in-depth exploration on CSP core technology and future development trend. With the thought of strengthening innovation and transforming technology into productivity, Shanghai Electric Central Research Institute will be a strong supporter for the Shanghai Electric Group in solar CSP project development and EPC.

 CSP Focus China Tour 2017 delegation visited Shanghai Electric distributed energy system laboratory

The distributed energy system complex laboratory in the Institute consists of multiple distributed generation, heat collection and TES system, perfect relaying protection system and integrated supervisory control system. The laboratory also possesses the comprehensive experimental platform with intelligent micro-grid of flexible and variable topological structure and distributed energy system, combing the functions of both running with load and experiment. It provides key technology and industrial development support for Shanghai Electric Group to research intelligent micro-grid and distributed energy application.
