CMI: a contract for a new molten salt solar receiver in China

2018.01.31     From: CMI

CMI Energy was awarded a contract for the design and supply of a molten salt solar receiver for the 50 MWe Haixi solar tower in China (Qinghai Province) by the top Chinese EPC Contractor Shandong Electric Power Construction Corporation III (SEPCO III).

The renewable energy power plant of Haixi, located in the province of Qinghai (China), is part of the 23 Multi-Energy projects running in parallel to the ambitious Chinese CSP program. Located in a high altitude desert environment with severe weather conditions, this plant will include a solar tower but also PV and wind power, a very interesting mix of renewable energy. The equipment will feature 12 hours of energy storage thanks to the use of molten salts.

One of the best ways to insure dispatchability and overnight electricity production is indeed to store absorbed solar energy in molten salts: a low-cost, flame-proof and non-polluting fluid.

CMI Energy has a strong commercial experience of more than 120 years with China and has sold thermal solar receivers in South Africa and Chile so far.
