Brazil’s Eletrosul to test Concentrated Solar Power technology

2018.05.21     From: Renewables Now

Brazil’s Eletrosul will trial concentrating solar power (CSP) technology via a 250-kW project in the town of Caputera, the company, which is controlled by state-run energy group Eletrobras, said on Friday.

The BRL-16.5-million (USD 4.4m/EUR 3.8m) project is supported by the Research and Development Programme of Brazil’s power sector regulator Aneel and will be built on land provided by the municipality of Laguna. It will be delivered by Eudora Energia and Facto Energy, with start of works planned for next year.

Eletrosul will operate and maintain the plant but it could be transferred to an educational and research institution in the future. The facility will use parabolic concentrators and will feed power into the local distribution network. The duration of the project, including studies, is three years.
