Protarget AG was founded in2009 to develop, produce and sell turn-key concentrating solar thermal systems.Protarget’s solar technology is approved by DLR, TÜV and in accordance to theEuropean Pressure Equipment Directive PED. Protarget AG is a manufacturer, engineering firm and EPC contractor based in Cologne, Germany. The company specializes in the development, production and construction of solar thermal power plants for decentralized energy supply. The modular systems generate process heat or electricity for industrial customers in regions with high solar irradiation. Power plant projects have already been developed in Southern Europe, India, Brazil, Chile, South Africa and the MENA region. 

Thanks to industrial production and standardized plant sizes, protarget handles the production and installation of plants faster and more cost-effectively than the competition. These and other methods have been acquired by two board members, John Mitchell and Martin Scheuerer, in their previous leadership positions in Formula 1 and the aerospace industry.

We are convinced that solar thermal is the most sustainable and most efficient way of generating energy in regions where sufficient solar radiation and land are available.

We have founded protarget AG to establish the large-scale use of solar thermal heat and electricity generation as an affordable, environmentally friendly and non-subsidized source of energy. We offer customers in sun-belt regions an autonomous energy supply that is independent of public power grids and future energy price trends.

Solar thermal power plants

Solar water treatment

• The protarget SMD System combines a solar thermal plant with a membrane distillation unit

• A SMD system is highly corrosion resistant against chlorides, acids and alkalis, well suitable for all critical production processes.

• The solar system provides the thermal energy required for the distillation process, without the use of any fossil fuels

• By integrating a thermal storage, the SMD unit can be operated 24/7

• SMD systems are also resistant against scaling which results in minimum maintenance cost

• Optionally, a SMD system can be equipped with a spray drying unit to achieve Zero Liquid Discharge ZLD

• With a ZLD unit, the system is able to produce and recover the containments from the effluent
