Pepperl+Fuchs offers a variety of position sensing technologies for Concentrating Solar Power (CSP):


  • Azimuth adjustment solution to horizontal coordinate system :

In CSP industry, absolute rotary encoder models provide reliable, accurate position information for tracking azimuth of the horizon. The MNI series of magnetic encoders are compact and have a fully packaged construction that works reliably even in harsh applications. The F99 series inclination sensor provides high-precision angle detection from 0 to 360 degrees, and it can be set interval analog or switch point output according to user programming requirements.


  • Valve position control Solution:

The position sensor is used to monitor the movement of the actuators. Valve sensors combine "dual sensors" in one housing, which greatly reduces installation and maintenance costs. We also offer our customers a traditional box-mounting solution or a direct installation in the actuator. The sensor provides simple, effective and reliable detection with high safety, applicability and versatility.

Inductive proximity sensors


Inductive proximity sensors are the preferred choice for the majority of applications requiring accurate, non-contact detection of metallic objects in machinery or automation equipment. As a pioneer and market leader, Pepperl+Fuchs offers innovative, high quality inductive sensors to meet the needs of the worldwide automation and process control markets.


Versatile inductive proximity sensors can be used to provide positioning feedback, end-of-travel limits and confirmation of “nighttime” or “storm safe” positions.  They’re available with extended temperature ranges and IP68/IP69K ratings specifically for outdoor applications.




Inclination sensors 

Pepperl+Fuchs’ inclination sensors reliably detect inclination angles in factory automation and mobile equipment applications. 


Inclination sensors are ideal for monitoring the elevation (“tilt”) angle of dishes and horizontal troughs.  With accuracy of 0.5 degrees and IP68/IP69K ratings, these gravity-referenced sensors offer 0-5 volt or 4-20mA analog outputs and programmable setpoint options. 




Rotary encoders


In automation, rotary encoders are used as sensors for angle, position, speed and acceleration.


Rotary encoders can be used for rotational position feedback for any moving axis, thus can be found on trackers of practically any conceivable design, either single or dual-axis. Absolute rotary encoder models provide reliable, accurate position information, even through power loss.
